HMS Glasgow Error - Offered at Estimated British Pound 25,000-30,000 At Spinks
2015-11-24 Tue
In 1964 Falkland Islands printed a H.M.S Glasgow error postage stamp. The 6 pence stamp was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Falkland Islands, 1914. However the design of the stamp depicted H.M.S Glasgow instead of H.M.S Kent. Just one sheet of 60 stamps was printed, of which only 17 have been recorded. It is believed that one sheet was delivered to a stamp dealer in US who apparently did not notice the difference. This stamp is one of the rarest of the stamps issued during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Stamp Description: Denomination: 6 pence Colour: Black and Light Blue One of the stamps is up for auction in Spink Auction House London in the upcoming auctions of December, 2015. The Stanley Gibbons Catalogue price of the stamp being British Pound 40,000 it is estimated to be sold for Sterling Pound 25,000-30,000.Latest News
